ADHD: Diagnosis and Treatment Options

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a relatively common disorder that affects a child’s attention, concentration, and/or behavior. Children with ADHD may struggle academically and have difficulty in their relationships with parents and peers. Appropriate diagnosis and treatment is critical to ensure that a child maximize their success both in and out of the classroom.
Participants of this workshop will learn the following key points which they can directly apply to their children:

How to identify the warning signs of ADHD versus developmentally appropriate inattention and restlessness
•
What treatment options are effective for children and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD
•
How a neuropsychological evaluation can assist in diagnosing ADHD and related conditions
About the Workshop Instructor
Dr. Laura Rubin:
Dr. Laura Rubin is a licensed clinical psychologist in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She trained formally in neuropsychology at New York University Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center, and the University of Chicago Hospital. She received specialized training in developmental pediatric neuropsychology assessment. Dr. Rubin earned her Ph.D. in Child Clinical Psychology at Loyola University of Chicago, and obtained her B.A. in Psychology and English with High Honors from the University of Michigan. She is a former adjunct professor at the University of New Hampshire, has presented neuropsychology and child health research at professional meetings, and has published research in the area of child psychopathology. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Portsmouth, NH.
